Addiction and Recovery

This course will examine the aspects of drug use and abuse to the path of addiction and recovery. It will look at the physical and psychological areas of drug addiction and some indicators of predicting addiction. It will examine the various models that are used to explain drug addiction. It will take and in-depth look at the public heath model of drug addiction. It will look at some the many addictive qualities of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin. It will look at how the brain functions during a drug use and addiction. It will discuss the various types of withdrawal and how the addict can relapse. And lastly it will examine the newest information on treatment, counseling, and recovery efforts.
