Cocaine: Use and Abuse

Cocaine addiction is by far one of the most serious drug problems in the United States today at least one tenth of the population (over 22 million people) have tried cocaine and every day 5,000 more people will experiment with it. Cocaine is a $35 billion illicit industry and has for a long-time exceeded Columbia's #1 legal export, coffee. There are approximately 3.6 million chronic cocaine abusers currently. This course will focus on the all aspects of the drug in what we call the farm to the arm approach of investigation. It will explore what to look for in smuggling, packaging and paraphernalia. It will also explore the physiological and psychological aspects of the drug.
