Surviving an Active Shooter Incident

This course is designed for those involved in the response to an Active Shooting Incident. Upon completion participants will take the knowledge they have gained in the class room and scenario-based activities and apply it to an active shooter incident. This course will cover the critical tasks that need to be considered when preparing for and responding to an active shooter incident. Participants will be actively engaged in scenario-based training. Participants will learn what procedures and tactics are involved in an active shooter response incident, citizen/student rescue tactics, and hostage rescue. They will learn basic methods for communicating and working with other agencies when on scene. They will learn different interdiction methods and when to recognize the transition from an active shooter to a barricaded gunman. Participants will also review laws involving use of force and active shooter history.
